
A farewell to a genius
If you chanced to pick up a paper one day and saw that some mosquito country you’ve barely heard of elected an ignorant TV dingdong as President, yoy might be sad. Or laugh at how strange they are. Well, that’s us. The most powerful country in the world just did this. Through fear, a bonedumb media, a terrifyingly ignorant populace, a party dedicated to revanchist ignorance and straight racism, and a population that was meaner and dumber than I ever imagined. That’s America. Where Donald Trump is President, and where we’ve lost the right to call ourselves decent. That, finally, is the only story of the night: the end of what proved to be a collective delusion of goodness.
